We understand you RaÃ¢â‚¬Â¦you speak the international language of splitboard.
I do my own edges and wax at home and I usually don't keep a long board enough to warrant a base grind so I've never taken my splitboards to a shop. It wont matter how you take it to them, I would take it in ride mode (solid). When you get there you can split it for them. My guess is that they will tune it in split mode similar to a ski tune. I would make sure to tell them that you don't want the inside edge tuned anymore than absolutely necessary so the tolerance stays tight between the edges.
As for self-tunes and waxÃ¢â‚¬Â¦sounds like a good topic for discussion.

I give my edges a nice tune between every ride. I usually try to avoid rocks, so they don't get to bad but burred edges will seriously slow you down while in boarding mode.
I just use an edge sharpener with a file to lightly take out the deeper nicks, I use a finer file that doesn't remove much material. Then I'll take some light sand paper like a 320 or 400 grit to buff it out some more. I wrap it around a small block of aluminum I have, you want to make sure you're not rounding the edge over. Then I'll hit them up with a diamond stone.

For any base sand/grind you need to do it in ride mode, at least on a home made split. On a factory built w/ wrap around edges, in split mode, they can do each half separate from each other. Most base grinders will not pass a homemade with tracks/bindings on it through the machine, therefore the base sand will be what's done.
