Well, we started to ski here this month and you can ski here 8 months (or full year sometimes if glaciers allow that. )
You have different kind of snowpacks here. In generally snowpack varies a lot in Norway. It is usually not powder from top to all to way down. There is usually pretty much everything when you are going down. Close to coast line you can have lot of snow and it can also melt fast away. (Places like Lofoten, Kvalöy...) But in, Troms (what is really big area) you can go for example to Tamokdalen, where you already have inland's climate and snowpack there is more stable because of cold air.
But, yes snow varies a lot in coast line. Sometimes mountain where you are can be good to ski, but neighbor mountain can be really dangerous.
In North-Norway we also have long dark time when sun doesn`t come up. So we have couple months here that sun doesn`t effect to snow at all.
But, yeah this is the place to go! Sea, mountains and unique nature. And of course nice Norwegian people!
I had last year here over 110 splitboard trips, so you can ski here a lot
