anybody try these out yet?

the silicone instead of glue sounds interesting. curious to see peoples thoughts on how well they stick. loe the idea of being able to hose of all the pine neddles and crud.

I searched around a few weeks ago for reviews on these. Seems the general thought is the adhesion seems to work well with the tail clips, but the skin itself is not durable. There are some reports as well of the skin sliding laterally when sidehilling, although some are reporting no problems. Apparently for 2011, they have fixed these issues, so I would wait for some other dude to test them They are fairly expensive, but could be worth it I guess.

The reviews I read were from skiers, so perhaps with a fat splitboard they would adhere better.

Seems the best skins for sheer grip are the big fat, heavy orange ones from Black Diamond.

They do have a splitboard specific one now - wider, and shaped properly... also curious if anyone has tried them, i have a new board that needs skins and am intrigued by the concept of less hassle and less weight

Lou Dawson reviewed the original and said the glue was great but the skin material sucked. The revised version will be tested/reviewed this season. I read somewhere that JJ was testing them too so we should have some reviews once the snow starts flying.

I picked up a set of the snowboard specific ones at the end of the season last year. They worked great but I've only tried them in spring conditions so I cant vouch for them completely. They're light and it is really nice not to have the glue. Where it's really nice is on top while you're putting them away. If you screw up the fold it's no big deal to open them up again. I've had no durability issues. I've been out on them ~15 times and have no sign of wear. What I found when I was doing my research was that the old white ones had the issue not the new black ones (insert joke here). Anyway so far so good. One I get some more experience. with them in winter conditions I'll post and update

These things look intriguing, looking forward to a few more reviews this year and in all conditons. Anyone know how much lighter they are than a "normal" pair of skins?

That said, I just pulled the trigger on a new pair of G3 skins for Christmas, so I'll post a review on those after a few days on them.

Sounds promising. I'd love to not have to deal with glue. Have you used them to traverse relatively steep terrain and, if so, did the glueless system hold the skins in place?

i bay 4 sets of gekos
2 sets work - and the other 2 no - we change the boards, first i tink diferent base material.... no way.
importand for gekos youse : not to much wax on the base..... not to much polished.
tobi my touring partner say - it work s but next new board he bay the good gold bb skins with glue
my mine is - not for tours you must skinn 3 times up and down.

No issues on steeps or side-hills, That said I still wouldn't be comfortable recommending them until I've tried them in more weather conditions.

I'd love to try some myself, but new skins are low priority right now. Ended up getting some new glue.

Maybe by the time I can afford new skins, there will be some good reveiws on these.

update:
so far so good. I have had my one skin peel off on a steep slope with dry snow while breaking trail. That said I have been leaving my skins in car so I'm starting handicapped and I think they have a tail clip mod out that would prevent that anyway. On the bright side I found that if the board side of the skin is covered with snow you can easily rub the snow off an stick it back on the board. I did that and it didn't come off again.
