Echoing some of the comments on this thread, I've got a ski buddy who has both BD & G3 skins. He bitches about the G3's and seems to like the BD's better for the most part. That being said, I'm interested in hearing some initial reviews on the split specific G3 skins from the initial users this winter. I also agree that the $170 price tag is a bit steep given they make their own skins, however they do have the tail clips so that adds a few bucks......still, skins for splits in general seem to be overpriced

So I can weigh in a little on these. Not exactly for splits but I have a pair my touring skis (blasphemy). Its true that they are lighter than the BD split skins. I love the glue so much more than the BD stuff. They are much easier to pull apart in warm or cold. That being said I don't think they stick as well as the BD's. I haven't actually had them come off while skinning or anything but I think tail clips would be necessary with them. I can imagine them not sticking as well in really goopy snow. I can't say whether they really would or not though cause I usually opt for my splitboard (cause its more fun) and haven't used them much in really warm snow. All that being said I would buy them for my splitboard based on the experience I've had.

I was looking at the video that BCrider put up, and the Alpinist skins appear to have a very nice fit and finish, and lay really flat. I may try the tail clips from spark on my Voile skins and see how they work out for now. Has anyone tried these skins? Any comments?

doublep, I just ordered a pair of Prior skins. I was curious about the G3 Alpinist skin anyway, but with Prior privately labeling them I thought that they would be a good choice. I think the Prior topo map logo looks pretty cool too. There seems to be mixed reviews G3 vs others, but I guess you just have to try it. With shipping to USA, they were $164, hopefully no customs when sent by mail.
