Thanks for getting this started last year, Snurfer. Can we start a new one? Here goes...
Friday, 10/7
Light W wind, trace of graupel, and cold...60cm/2ft of medium density new snow above 10000' in upper LCC, much less snow below that...some wind effect along ridges...it looked like the snow came in wet, a mixture of snow/rain, as evidenced by the 1cm crust at the ground...will this snow last through the next storm?...keep an eye on the places where it might stick around to become the January depth hoar layer. (Sorry no pictures from today.)

Went for a walk in BCC today. Ran into WOW, bullshitted about how much we hate october snow. The bro-brahs were really giving it to guardsmen's pass today. Looked fun. Weather really fucked with the leaves. Saw moose, deer, grouse, and bobcat tracks. and one dude carrying a board towards reynolds . Not much up there right now, but maybe he made it work.

Took the pooch for a snow run up to Dog Lake this morning. Last nights low density snow was much improved over the previous wet heavy stuff and a joy to run through (e.g., Dry). Depths ranged from two to ten inches of fresh over the settled heavy stuff. The aspen carnage as a result of the wet heavy stuff is pretty bad in Millcreek, of course the mighty evergreens stood their ground.
Despite some of you finding stoke among the sharks, I'm hoping this melts and we don't have a repeat of '09.....

I skinned up Flagstaff yesterday and here are a few pictures. It went way slower than expecting either due to the half marathon I ran an hour before heading out or the fact it is still early season. The snow was deeper than expected on South Southeast aspects. Was knee deep in most places. Only two other tracks were found, but I had to put the skinner up. I only went about half way up since I knew towards the top it was pretty rocky. It was a good time until I hit a shark fin about half way down and jacked my knee up. I should have been like everyone else and went to alta and now I know why everyone else did. The bushes are a killer. Got a couple face shots which is straight money for early October. Not great stoke since I was dolo, but still fun to be out.
Looking at everyone at Alta
Right before I dropped in. Super fun and deep except a few bushes.

Alecs, I'm praying you get a Mon-Fri, 9-5 job so theres some blank canvases out there for me to paint this year. You absolutely killed it last year, every weekend warriors nightmare. Sick edit. Thanks for the stoke everyone.

He even came down to the San Juans and did that to us! Weekday warriors . More power to you. But its not like I crossed his tracks or changed my plans, so I guess I'm ok with it. Got to love the Juans, just don't move down here Alex.

Sorry guys, no 9-5 here .. I'm open to job offers though, I'm well versed in environmental policy and writing. Until someone finds me a job, I'm gonna keep gettin' it
Utah, it looks as though you like to roll solo alot, I'd love to hook up for some turns some day. And summersgone, no threat of me relocating to the Juans, unless Venture expands enough to need a professed environmentalist on their staff, but it'd be sweet to hook up for some Juan-slaughter in the near future. Now that that's cleared, you can re-focus your prayers towards snowfall!
