2011 SEASON UPDATE - 2 SPOTS AVAILABLE - Same Price. Season is Nov 28 - May 13 (exclusive of Xmas week 12/22-30)
Hey, I got Chris' ok to post this, as I thought there might be some CA site members interested in joining my ski lease in N.Tahoe. I'd love to add some semi-regular partners. I've posted the ad below that I listed on craigslist, which is pretty detailed about the place and opportunity. If you have any questions, feel free to post, PM or call.
$1000 / 4br - Fun Ski Lease Members Sought - long lease & family friendly (Kings Beach, North Lake Tahoe)
Hello and welcome!
Do you live to ski or snowboard? Are midweek powder days the only sick days you have all year? Tired of ski leases that end just when the good spring skiing is just getting started? If so, we have the ski lease for you. We are looking for a few new members to join our ski lease in Kings Beach, North Lake Tahoe. Our lease starts earlier than most and ends later. We will open the lease on December 30th for the New Years celebration and end in the end of May on May 22nd ensuring you get the most for your money and the lowest per day costs around.
A little about us to start and the type of members we are looking for. We have run or been a part of running multiple ski leases over the past decade, but had a few losses this year to parenthood, relocation, etc... We've had a few good friendships develop and many days of powder and nights of eating, drinking, and merrymaking. We have a wide range of abilities, from beginners to advanced riders and skiers. We’re very easy to know and get along with group, mostly in their late 20's to early 40's. I say mostly, because my wife and I have a ~4yo little girl who just loves the snow and playing in it. That said - we are a family-friendly lease and would love to have a play pal for our little girl during the season too.
We all love to snowboard and ski, thoroughly enjoy hanging out in the evenings having group dinners, and having great conversations by the fire over a few pints or glasses of wine. We are not a wild party house, but a group of working professionals looking for fun and interesting people to share our Tahoe experience.
Some of us are up at the crack of dawn for first chair on those deep powder days and are among the last off the hill. Others are more leisurely and enjoy a relaxing pace. On the avy-safe days, you might find us in the slack/side/backcountry, enjoying Tahoe in its pristine glory and would love to have like-minded members that can partner up with for backcountry riding as well.
Our place sleeps a maximum of 14, plus couches and air mattresses if utterly necessary. Never fear though, as we will have a total of 13 members, one of which is a toddler, ensuring beds for all members and at least one guest per weekend. It may seem like a lot, but we’ve found there is only once or twice a season where the house is completely full with multiple guests. Members always get priority for beds. Currently, we have FOUR openings left for the season. Should everyone get along, this lease will be available for years to come and most likely future years will include most of December (excluding Xmas week) for a nominal rental increase.
A beautiful 3-bedroom plus sleeping loft, 2-bathroom townhouse with 2 decks in Kings Beach, right off 267. We’ve got probably one of the most central locations in all of Tahoe. We’re one mile from the lake and all the restaurants, wellness center which has a beach, and Lake Tahoe Wellness Center, which has yoga classes, massage, and a climbing wall. http://www.laketahoewellnesscenter.com and two miles from the North Shore casinos.
SKI RESORT DISTANCES • 5 minutes to Northstar • 10 minutes to Diamond Peak • 20 min to Alpine, Squaw, Homeywood and Mt. Rose. • 30 minutes to Heavenly, Sugar Bowl, Donner Ski Ranch and Boring Hill (Boreal) • The only real distance resorts would be Kirkwood and Sierra-at-Tahoe at an hour to hour-25.
First Floor • Bunk room with Twin over Full bunk and Twin/Twin bunk bed • Master bedroom with King bed and loveseat with sleeper • Bathroom with double sink and travertine shower-over-tub • Large ski locker for all your gear
Main Floor • Custom granite kitchen and GE Profile appliances – fully stocked kitchen • Fireplace – will be converted to wood stove (firewood included) to keep our utilities down • 42" LCD Flat screen TV, Bluray DVD • Sectional couch, bar stools, dining table • Bedroom with King bed • Bathroom with stand-up shower with travertine tile
Loft • Twin over Full bunk bed • Twin bed
GUESTS Guests are welcome, when accompanied by a member, for a guest fee of $25 per night, per guest. Members have priority over guests for bed space. If you plan to bring a guest on a weekend, we will have an online Google calendar to help with planning. We usually have an email thread going by Tuesday for the upcoming weekend. No more than 4 visits (or trips) per guest, if they need to come more often, they should get in on the ski lease!! If something happens, and damages occur, we expect you to be responsible for yourself and your guests.
LEASE DETAILS The cost of the lease is $1,000 per member, plus $200 deposit for utilities (we will collect more if utilities run higher). This includes firewood, basic cable, high speed WiFi internet, utilities. If everybody remembers to turn the heat and water heater down when leaving for the weekend and religiously use the wood-burning stove - it is more than enough with guest fees helping offset the costs and we get a refund. Parking is easy, quickly plowed during the winter storms and included in our costs. You will have unlimited use of the townhouse, but no full-time residents.
If you’re interested in joining us or want more information, feel free to call or email.
Just bumping this up to the top as we'll have a couple of open spots this season. One of our members just FUBAR'd his ankle water skiing and is likely out for the season in PT and two people are looking for places in S. Lake Tahoe this season. So that's three spots available and I'd love to have some splitter's join us this season. Close to Mt. Rose BC.
"30 minutes to heavenly" LOL you must mean by speedboat!
Well I typically go to the NV side up Kingsbury so it's pretty quick driving 55-65mph coming down the east side of the lake once you get past Incline. Probably 45 minutes to the CA side because you're fighting the SLT traffic by the casinos.
I'd be interested, is it $1000/person total? (me + mrs. + son 5yr)
Yep, $1,000 total per person, plus the $200 per person utility deposit. If you sleep in a bed, you count as a member. My 3.5yo counts as a member. Last year we had a lot of guests, but also had a lot of midweek utilization. So the bills were higher than normal, but we had more guests to offset that and we all got $90 per person back. In addition, the bills were a little higher because we didn't have the wood stove for January and February last year (it's new).
We also put a few more upgrades into the place last season: 42" flat screen, bluray, better router, 2nd 19" flat screen in the masternas well as some more decorations. We also have a printer and BeyondWork membership for cheap, one-off lift tickets.
If you're interested, PM me and we'll discuss off the board.
I live over in Trinity county and have wonderful, albeit difficult, B.C. access over here! The Alps have my heart but the Sierra remain wonderful and always inviting! I've lived down in the bay area in years past and had many friends with ski leases, they seem to me a great way to go!
I'd be interested in this ski lease opportunity. I've not posted here much before so you've little history to judge me, I'll give you a quick run down.
I have fallen head over heels for splitboarding, it's all I do when there is snow on the ground. I've not rode a lift in 3 years! I'm 30, college educated, world traveled, mountain worn, normal type of guy.
Big thing is, my winter backcountry adventure partner, the one who is always ready to go, will stay with me as long as we trudge along the trail, will always enjoy the travels, the up hills and downs, as much if not more than me, is my lab dog, Tripp. Can you have awesome dogs at the cabin?
I'd use this mostly on the week days and hopefully at least once a month, hopefully more.
Anyway, this isn't a long thought out, searched for plan. Rather something I saw on here and was like "yeah, that could work, that would work, yeah, why not, SIERRAS!! Here I come!"
Sorry, but I've already got the cabin full for the season. I'll be offering the lease every year for the next few years, so check back with me in Sept. next season. There are a few leases I see that are still looking for people on snowpals, so check there.http://www.snowpals.org/skileases.html
