Wow I am stoked and honored to be on the cover of the mag. Our little sport isn't so little anymore.

Mike, welcome to SB.com. I hope the new endeavor is totally successful. I hope Kronicle really reaches for the core of backcountry riding (reaching is good enough, perhaps reaching is all that is possible). Please stay away from the hype.

Alpinist: this rag has some cool stuff, but why is there so much basic rock climbing in a rag titled "Alpinist"?

I'm totally gonna subscribe, if only because they just posted a cool Jim Rippey highlights vid on their FB page. He was the man! Interesting to look back on some of that older footage now and see that in many ways it's still fresh and timeless.

Hopefully the first issue will have an article on approach skis.

Jim has some serious adrenaline issues. Jumping off that bus into the ravine... Watched that like 5-times. His AK decents are classic (and still epic!). And his tweaked grabs on kickers. And... Rock on, Rippey!

So I just got to talk with Adam Howard, one of the owners at HOL publications, this morning and asked how Kronicle was going and what could the average splitter do to help out and make the magazine great.

What he said was; we could reach out to the brands that we support, and let them know we are not just a bunch of jibbers waiting in line at the lifts living it up resort style. Let them know how early we get up to beat the lifts, how many summer hikes we go on to find the lines and approaches. Basically we want to support a publication in our own quest for great slashes.

Like Mike said earlier in this thread, he wants to tell our story in Kronicle. We need to tell the brands that made it happen for us that we want this magazine, that staying away from the resort is what we are after and in Kronicle we trust.

Cool to see the sport evolving and now with a dedicated mag things should really start to get interesting. It blows me away just how much the tech on boards and bindings has changed in the last couple of years. The library of info that is splitboard.com definitely deserves props! Looking forward to checking out the mag!

I'm still trying to pull together my first split. But I will be headed to grab a copy of this tomorrow at the local EMS. I've played in the Jeffersonville backcountry for 5 years now and have a good friend who headed out to Crested Butte a couple of years ago. To all the early splitters, keep up the good work. The sport is seeing growth and there will surely be a spike in newbies like myself this winter. I look forward to being a positive member of this community!

Got my copy in time for Thanksgiving, and it's great! But I must say, what REALLY did it for me is the awesome photo on the last page of Jim Zellers ripping up Chamonix in the early 90's, in what appears to be a vintage onesie with killer neon hardboots. Some things never change.
