I certainly am for more wilderness designation. The more wild places the better.
But I also like playing redneck. Nothin' like taking the Jeep and JibC's snowmachine into the backcountry
and tearing it up! I am impressed that all these rivers and wild lands are being saved.
Just tryin' to put the word out on the street about some of the new 'off-limits' areas for
mechanised transport in the backcountry.
The last four years of lobbying for more wilderness in California affects more than just the Coast Range.
The closest wilderness designated area to Hull is the new Yuki Wilderness. I think it starts at Monkey Rock
and heads north on Etsel Ridge towards Covelo.

more thread drift...
Maps with more detail would be nice to really see what they are proposing as wildlands. It will be interesting to see what actually gets approved. I'm sure a lot depends on how good the timber grows in these areas.

Your exactly right. One of the reasons that Black Butte River was designated a
Wild and Scenic River was that the slopes above the river were too steep to
harvest timber cheaply. I'll try to find out more.
Very well put in your first post BC Rider. I agree with you. I'm lucky enough to have short approaches in my back yard but I wouldn't hesitate to use a sled for long flat approaches.
