This board is still stiffer than the Jones, Ventures, NS's and probably every other split out there except maybe mojos. And yes mojos were super fucking stiff (I've had monkeys try to tell me they were soft. my voile mojo was the stiffest split ive ever felt. too stiff imo)
Nice to hear that I'm not the only one who thought the Mojo was way stiff. It was weird hearing some Mojo owners tell me they thought they were soft, I thought maybe we were talking about different boards. But then, maybe they were comparing it to a Mountain Gun! Personally I still prefer a little more flex vs. stiff and damp, or even "deadness" at the far extreme. Actually almost every production split I've tried felt too stiff for me. The Jones actually is not as stiff as I thought it would be, seems to be only a little stiffer than my Burton. The ST does sound like a sweet board.
Screws/nuts on the tip/tail clips seems like a good idea too, makes it more easily field-repairable. Then again... better loctite those bolts! The old Burton tip clips used screws, and they would manage to loosen and fall off at the worst possible time.
Our apologies from the rest of the peanut gallery Tom... Lets get this thread back on track shall we?!?!
Look what the postman delivered today - my 1st split after 20+ years of riding - excuse the phone quality pictures, I'm still @ work.
Looks very very nice and the fit was very tight without any noticeable gaps. I'm sure it will be even tighter when I fit the Karakorams (other box in picture )
Little personalization for me as well (besides the flex pattern, rocker, and insert position that they customized for me)
Can't wait to get everything mounted up and for the ridge to crumble over Tahoe right now
Just the standard rocker option, with a few more layups to increase stiffness a smidge. They also widened the stance range by 1/4" and pushed the whole stance forward 1/8" so I could get the stances I desired for both west and east coast riding. The whole experience of working with them was very easy and they were very professional.
BG, I'd love to make some turns with ya. I'll PM you when I head back up to Tahoe in a few weeks. I got some business travel coming up so I can't make it up for a few. East side is the right call with the weather we have right now though.
What's the specs on these boards? Nose rocker length, camber amt, taper? Looks very simliar to my Zephyr. Good looking boards, they will fly.
They don't have the rocker length on the website, as its a by request option and the camber isn't measured either. I can measure them tonight but here are the specs on the 62 from the Winterstick site.
Length 162 Nose Width 29.3 Tail Width 28.9 Waist Width 25.3 Sidecut Radius (M) 10.4 Nose Length 20.8 Tail Length 14.8 Effective Edge 126.1 Stance Offset 3.0 Camber medium
