+1 for the BD Flicklock. Mainly 'cuz you take the basket off yer pole, put the saw on, and BAM! you can cut the back of your rutschblock. Can't do this with the other saws.
And it packs small, and is pretty light.

I've been using the Black Diamond saw for three seasons and am pleased with it. It doesn't fit my pole unfortunately so I end up carrying a Rutschblock cord saw also for cutting the back of columns.
Ideal for multi day ski traverses where every ounce counts. Gets the job done. I initially scoffed at the cardboard sleeve, but after using it successfully for 11 days out, I'm sold.

Hell yes! I am picking up one of these for my first saw. Thanks for the input breadbox!
I carry a wood and nails Sawzall blade, that I painted to protect from rust. The end easily fits tightly into my BD flicklock pole, its cheap and easily replaced. Works great.

Does this work well? How do you attach it to your pole?
Does anyone have any experience with the Voile saw that is stored inside the Shovel handle?
The BOMB WhitePine....for sure my favorite peice of gear. Quick hasties, shovel tilts, even works super well for cutting cornices. I also read about a study recently from Euro that put shovels to the test and Voile shovels came out on top. I felt the shovel head or whatever you call it was a little small for my liking so I switched it out with the bigger head from an old one. I'm a weight weenie but when it comes down to saving a life I don't bull shit around. Ya Know..

totally agree, also like the cutouts in the shovel blade so you can feed a runner through it and use to make a deadman anchor. pretty sure you need the tempered (T6) blade if you want the top performer.
