Another look at Steve's board:
Image
USA Bowl rode nicely, 6 inches of new fluff over older soft snow, snowing hard, windy, cold. No instabilities noted in the main bowl, but would be alert for sketchy loading on the other side of PC ridgeline that we did not check out.

I always say better the board than my knee or head. RIP
Rode N. Facing today, mainly steep trees trying to avoid dust on crust conditions. New snow was bonding well to old on N facing aspects, sluffing on a sun crust on steeper s. facing exit.

N facing rode good, no crust.

Doug I thought I might have seen your truck at the mouth of Little, musta just missed you. Nice lines from the other day and to think that whole thing ripped out last year. Good to see things are much different so far.

I cannot confirm but yes I have been told that those ^^^ goggles are manta ray. Breadbox brother, thx for the visit, you are an ace. Sorry you couldn't stay another day, the riding today was quite deep and light density. I was on lifts but would expect trailbreaking to be a significant effort in LCC. I saw no natural slab slides in the Snowbird periphery, just minor loose fresh snow sluffing. Calm and half sunny with intermittent refill flurries. There's some shots in the foothills starting to look filled in.....in November???

City creek looks almost rideable, and there's a tasty windlip over I-St. Just when you thought backcountry in the wasatch couldn;t get any lazier.

Snow is getting damp from warm temps. Still powdery in upper elevation shady.

Worked hard to get some untouched on Saturday. Payed off, with some nice consolidated pow on surprisingly high elevation E/NE facing. Warm, slightly humid, but overcast skies kept most aspects decent. Protected N facing would most likely continue to ride good. We were in some pretty committing terrain so we didn't take any chances and were very respectful but snow was set up nice no instabilities, everything seems pretty welded in place. Some pics from the day.

December Fourth

Temps were warm. Went for a solo trip up white pine to do a line I spied on thursday.

Followed the skin up pink pine ridge and then put in a grueling booter/skin up to the top of rainbow point, not very far distance wise put shallow snow meant that every other footstep punched through into the rocks and cliffs. Two other people came up behind me and i think dropped the NW chute, which I should have done. Instead i rode the ridge in the center of the photo and it wasn't great. not as direct as it looks and still really rocky.

I was bummed after the shitty ride so I decided to head up white pine to at least get some miles on my legs. ended up here.
Image

N/NW facing had developed a wind slab/crust and turns were okay, not great. The snow lower down in the trees was dense, fast and fun. No shortage of fun gullies to shred in that area either.

A look back at the first line off rainbow peak

Back into hell
