Unfortunately I don´t really have any pics from Denali. I didn´t own a camera back then. My friends took some, and maybe at some stage I can get some of those, scan them (back then digital cameras weren´t as affordable as they are now) and post them somewhere. On our first trip we didn´t even shoot that many... I think the only picture from our summit night/day (we left 14K camp around midnight, and I was back there next day around noon) was shot somewhere on top of the Headwall, somewhere around maybe 16K. It was in the middle of the night and pretty damn cold, and after taking that shot we didn´t bother to take the camera out. It was actually so cold we didn´t even stop moving after that. My got a bit tired, and decided not to go to the summit and he skied down with the camera from somewhere around Archdeacons tower? (which is on top of Messner couloir), so I couldn´t take a summit pic either. Which would have been useless anyways, because the visibility wasn´t all that great, there was no view what so ever. Spooky being up there in those conditions.

Anyways, it´s a great place and there is tons of sick runs all over the place. I´d say it´s most definitely worth visiting. And not just Denali, there is a gazillion cool places there, and it´s not even that expensive to go, so I really recommend it. If you are interested in the area, buy a copy of Bradford Washburn´s book Mount McKinley: The Conquest of Denali. It has stunning photos of the area. Also check out Lou Dawson´s www.wildsnow.com for some cool reports from his Denali trip he did last spring for tons of good information on how it´s done.

I´ll do my best. let´s see how far that will take us. Hopefully very far. And high as well.

heres mine. i did the original drawing for my design concept three winters ago. last year i got really bored at work over the course of a couple days and did these drawings. the design is a mountaineering soft boot with a plastic hard boot sandal lower. its a hybrid. just kind of daydreaming...someday hopefully someone will make something like this.

While I know they are not for everyone I'm really starting to like my Scarpa F3's a whole bunch. If for no other reason than the bindings make riding and touring very simple.
With that said, most of whats been proposed here could use either plates or straps, so I think the conversation is going a good direction. It just comes down to whether, or not anyone will put up the capitol to mass produce such a beast.

I remember the same thing being said about a split specific binding....

I know boots are a different story in so far as design and manufactoring costs but shit, there's now 8 or 9 board makers, two software companies, a major motion film and one kick as website? We splitters got capital! Build it and we will spend.

if any company would make russo's dream boot, it would be La Sportiva (that carbon xcross boot is sick). Burton might, but I doubt they have the incentive with such low production numbers.

anyone know the price for the stratos?
