Can anyone let me know the proper location for the heel lift piece? I'm making my second split, and I just kinda guessed on the first split I made. It works fine, but if I ever get crampons it sounds like the location of the heel piece is important. On the other hand, if it's not important, I'd like to mount it farther forward for a little more lift.
Right now, from the center of the front mounting hole in the heel riser to the center line of the pivot point of the touring bracket is ~6" on my old split. Anybody know what the correct distance is?

i have the template from the DIY kit and measured from the front of the climbing block to the bottom of the touring bracket (the space between the two pieces) and that measured out at 5.5 inches, and the measurement from the front hole of the block to the pivot point is 6 and 7/10 inches.
Hope this helps, feel free to ask more questions I've got all the templates and original instructions saved.
I put this into a CAD program and have a PDF of the hole pattern that you can print off and use as a template, but not sure how to up load a PDF for people to download. Any one know how?
You have to host it on your own site. Maybe the public section of your Dropbox account. Photo sites like Picasa or Photobucket might allow you to put PDFs on there as well.
When printing mounting templates, set page scaling to NONE. Always check the printed template to the item you are mounting.
Cheers
Firstlight - Why do you have 2 hole spacing templates for the bindings. 1 @ 3.34" apart and 1 @ 3.375? I know its just a .025" difference but I'm curious. Those are helpful though. Thanks.
The 3.34" spacing came from "Burton" and the 3.375" came from Bryce at Karakorum. I made those files and FirstLight was kind enough to post those for everyone. I figured I'd let people decided what spacing they wanted. I know it's only ~0.030 so they are really close. Just didn't want to force people to one spacing. I was thinking of posting a third size based on Bryce's comment on the JJ Solution. He said it was ~3.25 but since I understood that to be a prototype board, I did not bother.
