Hey,
here's a few days in early October in New Zealand. Me and my girl have just moved to Chch this year and this is my first season on a splitboard. haven't done as much touring this year, haven't quite had the luck getting the trifecta of partners, weather and avo conditions this year - especially as I only get to ski weekends.
So when Spring Conditions arrive, it's time to rejoice! Hallelujah!
and go solo.....

So we spent the weekend riding at Mt Cheeseman. my girlfriend down on the beginners tow-ropes and me in the sidecountry. here are some shots........

The Craigieburn Range, Cheeseman somewhere near 2/3 right

some laps down off the ridge
Image

nice little chute near the resort, down into Tarn Basin
Image

looking south towards Mt Cheeseman proper, lotsa lines!
Image

On Tuesday I was sick. It could have been gastro or maybe even Bieber Fever - too sick to go to work anyway.... but not too sick for a mission ! We headed to the Torlesse Range, with Castle Hill Peak at centre, Foggy Peak at far right
Image

My girlfriend Catherine decided to come for a walk too and be my photographer.

hiking up from the highway to Foggy Peak

found this guy up there on the ridge. he looked beached as.
Image

Catherine stomps up the last ridge towards CH Peak
Image

ready to drop from top of CHP. cool SW wind meant I wasn't sure how much it had softened
Image

sweet as! velvety corn
Image

skinning back up the ridge.
Image

then I did another shorter and icier run over the south side. After some lunch and snow-melting time, it was time to head back along the ridge towards the car....

one more run to get me halfway to the car
Image

just soft enough

tussock dodging

almost there!

the end ( of the snow).

anyway, that was the best few days of my season probably, apart from an awesome day in the Craigieburn Chutes.
There's still weeks to go til the snow melts too!
FCUK YEAH.

hope this works as it's my first post and it's taken an inordinately long amount time to make, due to the synthoids. and cos of all the earthquake trauma i'm suffering...

Cheers, chr-chr
Yossi

look me up next year, people!

Velvety corn

Awesome! I love those shots...I have lots of fond memories looking up at dirty snow fields thinking "worth it to the last turn!" Agree w/ Ecobrad, outstanding first post! Keep 'em coming!
