Lady Godiva was a freedom rider
She didn't care if the whole world looked.
Joan of Arc, with the Lord to guide her
She was a sister who really cooked.

Isadora was the first bra burner
Ain't ya glad she showed up. (Oh yeah)
And when the country was falling apart
Betsy Ross got it all sewed up.

And then there's Maude.
And then there's Maude.
And then there's Maude.
And then there's Maude.
And then there's Maude.
And then there's Maude.
And then there's

That uncompromisin', enterprisin', anything but tranquilizing,
Right on Maude.

Short story...

A few days ealrier I got a good look at the north side of Mt Maude while climbing Seven fingered Jack with Kyle Miller.

I set out at about sunrise making way up the phelps and leroy creeks to the west ridge of Maude. After getting on the ridge I climbed directly to the peak. there was some airy scrambling and risk for the first bit, then it was an easy uphill stroll.

From the summit I rode down the north face to the entiat glacier . after about 2,000', traversed under a big hunk of hanign glacier and then up to ice lakes. Instead of decending to the lakes, I made a big travers to avoid what looked to be a lake of slush. probably would have been easier to go down and all the way around. but longer.

up to the maude/? col and several turns before climging 50' back to leroy. oh leroy,,, the sweet sweet water....

I've got two responses for you:

1) You are my fAAAcking hero! Way to poach a STEEP ASS LINE!! And solo?! Holy SHEEYAT DOOOOD!

2) You are also a bastard, because I've wanted that line for 4 years! From the summit of 7-Fingered Jack Mt Maude is absolutely fantastic.

Here's a shot I snapped in late August 2006:
