Oh yeah, interesting side note. Back at the car I ran into another splitter in the parking lot. He needed a ride back to his car a little ways down the road. We got to talking, and it turns out it was bcd's friend Kevin Smith! You know, the guy who is in all the rad pictures in Dan's book. It was his first time out to Roundtop riding Crescent. Small world.
Small world, indeed. I was about to bail on Tallac as there was no one there and I didn't feel like breaking trail solo. Kevin showed up solo and we joined forces for a sick run on the Great One. As good as it gets, no matter what time of year.

I understand Carson got pow from the storm that passed through yesterday. Variable pow/wind slab at Mammoth, supposedly really good in wind protected areas. We rode combo of windboard and wind deposited pow up to 12" in North Couloir Mt. Emerson yesterday. Severe winds in the Buttermilks, up to 100 mph in Mammoth last night.
From yesterday - Stevee B aka breadbox provides a sense of scale on the Emerson North Couloir apron: Manipulated photo showing variable snow surface in Zebra Couloir (which is shown on the left in previous photo): Going up the North Couloir as the wind and snow starts: Stevee B went somewhere up there to the top: It got pretty brutal on the descent, winds funneling up the chute over 60 mph: Eric aka islehiker during a relative calm in the squalling wind: I am going to remember yesterday, thanks guys!
I hope I'm not c*nting up this thread. Here's the last of the splitporn from this past weekend.
Scheelite chute was filled in most of the way down, but had some significant debris in it, so we didn't go up it. It's a sexy looking 6000' line though:

Thank you Steve, Eric and Dan for being solid partners and friends. So glad we hooked this trip up!
