Looks like the Spark Plate binding proto went on the back burner. No worries for me, as I really do not want the extra complexity/weight of an articulated binding (my boots are modded for good medial/lateral flex). I would like to see Spark come up with a simple, super lightweight, plate binding though. Right now, I am riding Catek toe and heel pieces direct mounted (mods required) to a Voile slider plate. Everyone who has seen/ridden Spark bindings knows about the limitations inherent in the Voile slider plate. I would love to see a Spark machined baseplate ala Fuse, with simple, direct mount toe and heel pieces-to take advantage of the stiffer and stronger board interface offered by the Spark machined style baseplate. I am sure Will could come up with some very lightweight toe and heel pices as well with his clever approach to design/manufacturing. I like my Catek setup, but the solid 7 mm SS bails are overkill IMO, I'm sure 5 mm SS would be adequate and save some weight. Even better could be Titanium bails, but bending Ti precisely might be a little difficult.

Yeah, I know that some folks want an articulated binding, but I have modded my boots for lateral/medial flex, and only need a solid binding. I also would rather have a binding which allows a lower boot sole to board distance and less weight-just something really simple, lightweight, and bomber-without the strength/flex limitations of the Voile Slider Plate based setup commonly in use by most folks. I prefer the sole of the boot to be tightly connected to board, and the flexibility to come from the shaft of the boot, rather than the whole boot rocking on a pivot high off of the board surface.

I'm with Barrows. I'm pretty happy with my boots these days. light, simple, low. if its easy to adjust the boot sole length like a tele binding, that would work too.

I have not confirmed it yet-but from the pictures, it looks like the Bomber Sidewinder toe and heel pieces could be direct mounted to the Voile slider plate, for those interested in trying an articulated binding. As long as your boot was not too big I'm pretty sure these could direct mount with a simple hole mod on the Voile plate.
