Cool pic of hall of the gods! driving up 88 yesterday I was wondering where all the snow went. It's looking bony and i have the core shot to prove it. Got it yesterday at Kirkwood after taking the funky little rope tow up covered wagon and then out onto fawn ridge. kinda cool, kinda weird. the rope tow to the top of lookout vista was sitting at least 8 feet off the ground. Basically, what I am trying to say is wherethe..eff is mfing el nino? Sorry this is a resort post but hey, wtf. someone do a snow dance please.

MODELS HAVE BEEN CONSISTENT WITH THIS SCENARIO AND IN BRINGING MORE ENERGETIC SYSTEMS INTO THE WEST COAST FOR THE WEEK AFTER MLK DAY. THE FOCUS FOR THESE NEXT SYSTEMS MAY TREND MORE TOWARD THE SOUTHERN SIERRA FOR THE BEST SNOWFALL AMOUNTS BUT THIS WILL DEPEND UPON THE ULTIMATE LOCATION OF THE JET CORE. AT THIS TIME A GOOD MOISTURE FEED AND DYNAMICS WITH THE JET TRANSVERSING THE PACIFIC POINT TOWARD THE POTENTIAL FOR SOME PERIODS OF SIGNIFICANT SNOWFALL IN THE SIERRA AS WE MOVE INTO THE LATTER HALF OF JANUARY.
Plzplzplzplzplz. Tahoe always gets it's snow, but the south can be a fickle bitch.
So I guess these will just have to serve as stoke and maybe a gentle reminder that conditions could be pretty damn good tomorrow. From thursday on the Mammoth crest:

Did a short pre-playoff skin up to Silver Peak, and found some really nice snow — a mix of pow and fast, wind-affected soft snow. The Pole Creek pullout looked like Squaw's parking lot — cars stacked out to the street. I have no idea where all those people were, because I only saw two tele skiers and one other duo out on Silver. My tracks on the right. Now I gotta go get some extra gas for my snowblower.....

The snow line for the last foot of snow was ~500ft in the central Sierra above my house. The several feet of new snow seems to be setting up perfect. More on the way, let's hope it stays cold.
