buying a mojo. would love a storm 162 R but cash is king. im 5.10 185 # and ride a burton custom x 160. Was planning on buying a mojo 161 because i felt it would be normal to my solid board but I see a used mojo 166 for sale . do you think 166 would be to big or should i just buy the new 161. thanks

I'm almost identical to you in height and weight and I ride a 161. I rode a 166 and its STIFF. That can be good but for me it was kinda too planky for the down and not playful enough (just dandy on the skinning).
The 161 (in my singular opinion) is more fun. This can be different for everybody though.
I come from a park rat history and prefer being able to jib around more. My experience is that the 161 does AWESOME when you open the flood gates and lay out full speed turns.... Rides amazing in pow, and handles chunder nuggets and crud just great. On groomers it holds an edge super well. The only thing I wouldn't say the Mojo is good for is park riding (which it isn't made for anyway). I don't feel as comfortable spinning or buttering this board as I do my solid boards.
Oh, in response to split.therapy, for pow size doesn't matter so much as shape
Cheers man!!

Jeez...this place is getting to be more like TGR every day
Anyways, 'irideit', what area of the world do you mostly ride? If you're riding deep pow, I say either lose some weight or get the 166. I ride a 173 and weigh 15# less than you. I wouldn't dream of going any shorter in powder.

I have had both boards at one time and at 5'10 185, i think that the 66 will treat you better if you are riding in west coast type snow. The 61 felt a little small on any days with real pow the 66 will ride any day, more bang for your buck. I agree take the shit talking back to TGR.
