I know people have moded or switched out their straps and highbacks. I just received my new Fuse bindings and would like to swap my (slightly) lighter and already worn-in straps.
I had no problem with the ankle strap, but just realized the toe strap is attached on the outside of the baseplate as oppose to the inside (like on a standard binding). Unfortunately, the strap has a small protruding metal piece (about 5mm in length) that normally slides through the baseplate. The screw is now too short to fit through both the metal piece on the strap and through the Fuse baseplate.
Should I just go to the hardware store and get a longer screw? What have other people done to accommodate this? Or am I the only one that has this problem with the strap. Are there any drawbacks to using another strap instead of the bent metal strap?

Can't see why not, Bent Metal bindings appear to be slapped together from hardware found at Home Depot (This is a good thing, no stupid markup on "snowboard specific" parts).

I've currently got Burton Capstraps on my Missionary's. They keep my feet on the board, so no drawbacks that I know of.
I run with capstraps on my splitboard rig and they are super, super comfy. if there's a way to make them work with the bent metals, I'd recommend it. you can also pick them up just about anywhere.
are you guys just switching out the "cap" part with the rachet of the binding? or the entire strap including the ladders?
i'm switching the entire Ride strap: ladders + cap. the Ride rachet is too small for the Bent Metal ladders. and the ladders from my Ride bindings, have a small metal piece that acts like a thread in it.
for now, I'm using my Ride ankle straps, and keeping the Bent Metal toe straps. for a female that has a smaller boot profile, the straps seem a bit big and bulky.
can't wait to try them out on the new deck! I'm picking up my new Prior AMF split in Whistler tomorrow!!
