Dear Interested Party, On October 21, 2009, Uinta-Wasatch-Cache National (UWCNF) Forest Supervisor Brian Ferebee signed a Decision Memo authorizing the re-issuance of a 10-year special use permit for Wasatch Powderbird Guide to continued to provide guided helicpter skiing on the UWCNF. The decision may be implemented immediately and the new permit will be in effect for the 2009-2010 season. A copy of the decision is attached. For additional information, contact Steve Scheid at 801-733-2689 or at sscheid@fs.fed.us.
After spending the last 3 winters getting lost in the desert on my MX bike I'm coming back this winter for some split-riding. I remember this debate going on as long as 10 years ago. I don't know if it's still the case, but in the past the Powerderbirds served as first response to avalanche victims in the wasatch backcountry. When minutes count they could be saving your life. Of course if they no longer provide this service then that sucks.

Obviously I'd be grateful to anyone who helped rescue me, but I still may not like the way they conduct themselves in their day to day life. At any rate, I don't think that is the case and it wouldn't change how I feel about it if it were.
