I have the last generation, I think 2003 , 195 SW and its Blue with the beautiful Gold and yellow flames. It is an amazing tool, and your going to have a lot of fun. It's a lot of board, and real fast, so be careful, and ride big deep days on it....Live long and prosper...

How do swallow tails work in fast turn situations like speed checking right before a shoot or off a cliff? is there any negative side when skinning? and what about length. im guessing you can pack a much longer plank under your feet when your tail is sliced in two... in 5'11", 175 lbs. any length suggestions?
I'm trying to figure out if i want to go the swallow tail route (expensive) or stick with a twin tip (cheaper). I don't ride switch, and my resort board (sims 161, wide) doesn't ride very well in deep pow (back leg buuuurn) and nose diving.

but yeah, tell me about your swallow tails.
Like all boards it really depends on the specs as to how an ST will ride , but in general I'd say subtract the tails from the board length to get a ballpark idea of how long the board feels underfoot. In other words my 172 rides like my 163 in pow, and like a 172 on hardpack. Because of the taper and flex pattern of the Wasatch ST (the green 70's looking one) it's by far the best board I've ever ridden (in all conditions), and contrary to what many think of ST's it shreds hardpack and crud with ease. Unlike my Arbor and Voile twins tips that wash out on steep hardpack and crud, I know I can always count on the Wasatch to keep and edge. If I could find another to split, It would likely be my only ride. With the exception being the tightest of trees. The 195 ST is an entirely different story and I've yet to get it out on snow to see how the side cut and flex perform, but based on length alone it will see the most action in the steep and deep. My fear is it will be to flexy for anything else.

Let me know
Cheers
A splitter in Jackson, WY posted it for sale here at SB.com and I just happen to have money burning a hole in my pocket. Its in new condition, but its a vintage board, has old style Chinese hooks and the center line is not cap construction. I don't believe Voile makes a 172 or 195, but maybe they will surprise us with next weeks announcement?
I love my 195 ST, and its amazing in the deep snow, but it also kicks ass on a lot of different conditions. I have only had the opportunity to open it up a few times, but everytime, I just want more of it. LAst year we got bombed with like 4 ft of freshies ,and I hit Kirkwood for half day and the BC for 1 /2 the day. Well Th BC was just amazing, deep and steep and it handled everything I threw at it. I was glad to be on it in that deep of snow as well. It blew me away how effortless it was to surf down this amazing aspect and feel like I ve never felt on a board before.. .No sh$%! It was truly different...

Indeed, that's exactly why I love the ST. It's unlike any other board. Its an entirely different experience for sure
