Looking for a few new folks to meet up with for splitting outings this season. Last year was my first full BC season so I've some learning to go, but I'm Avy 1 cert and serious about splitting. I find I always end up with a group of skiers (you probably know how that goes), though.
Last year examples include some Berthoud runs, Mt Bancroft, and Square Top Mtn area.
New terrain, splitting friendly, and good people are atop my list of to-dos this season. If you're from around here and don't mind offering some advice here and there as we trek, drop me a line or reply here. Looking forward to it.

The toughest part about front range splitting is the long flat approaches, which makes for long flat (and sometimes uphill) returns. Skiers don't mind it but for boarders it sucks. High-point parking gives the most convienence, which is also why places like Berthoud are a zoo on weekends.
If you want solitude and fresh tracks be prepared for a little bit of work getting out at the end of the day. Herman Gulch is one of those, but one I think is really worth exploring. It seems to get little use even though it has such convienent access right off I-70.
I'd like to explore more of RMNP too, I'm always turned off by the long drive from Denver, but with good company it could be well worth it on day trips or overnights. Lodging is cheap in Estes in the winter.

All good points. Where do you typically split; generally speaking? I'd be curious to venture out in to a few new spots if you were willing to do a little guiding. I hear you about the long, flat approaches. My ski buddies will always suggest that it'll be good for splitting, but rarely it is. It's been tough finding reliable split partners in the area, so I'm all for new BC spots and fellow boarder buds.
Cool stuff. We'll have to get together this season. I'm pretty familiar with the IPW — where do you find the best lines? Favorite spots? Just curious to get a sense of more board tracked spots for my own knowledge.
Hey, I'm looking to get out this weekend. Not a whole lot of experience or local knowledge, but I do at least have an avy course under my belt. I'm in Summit, Wouldn't mind driving out to Indian Peaks or somewhere like RMNP.
Checked out Mayflower gulch up here two weekends ago. Not enough snow to ride then. We might get hit big this week though so there may be some other opportunities.

Depending on snow coverage I may visit St. Marys glacier for a little play and bury a few beacons for early season practice on Saturday. I think I'll hold off on IPW or RMNP until we get a nice covering atop this projected storm so I don't tear up the base.
