Been considering purchasing one of these bad boys for some time. Don't want to break the bank, but do want to get something that's actually going to work.
I have limited experience with base repairs (a miracle on the east coast), but would it be possible to simply use a regular glue gun for this? Are the temperature settings different, or perhaps the diameter of the ptex stick? Because a glue gun costs barely $12.
$10 cheaper and a fair bit hotter than the repair pistol. It may seem like things could get messier with this tool, but to me it looks like you could have a lot more control with it and get better bonding also.

Sweet video, the repair iron might be a viable option
Cheers Glenn

Alright fellow splitters, figured I would post the verdict for the benefit of anyone else who may be in the market as well...
I was initially leaning toward the pistol variety with entry level models starting just under $50, but you can easily spend $150 on up to get a much higher quality model. I liked the control and ease of use the pistol varieties seem to provide but was weary of the quality of the entry level model.
I decided to go with the repair iron style after much debate as I feel the iron will be more precise with less "overspray" and that much more versatile depending in whether you're using p-tex, metal weld, sticks, ribbon, string etc. This is the model I chose with a nice wide tip
I bought the biggest glue gun I could find (50W I think and only about 15€ from the local Mr Bric).
Works a treat for me. Made a nice neat job of filling the T nut holes and they've shown no sign failure after half a dozen tours. Far better than my first attempt with an iron.
