While Powder days in October happen they are few and far between, so in a effort to take advantage of the conditions I met up with Jason and Josh Hummel for a overnight trip on Heliotrope ridge.
I made it to the trailhead a hour after them so I quickly threw my gear together and rushed up the hill taking advantage of the last hour of sunlight. I fortunatly made it to camp at sunset while Jason snapped a few pics of the alpenglow. Serac fields on Coleman Glacier. That night winds were brutal and sleep was kept to a minimal at our campsite. The moonlight over the coleman Glacier was amazing. The wind kept blowing until early in the afternoon as I bootpacked up the ridge in proper snowboard fasion while the Hummels effortlessly skinned. Once arriving at the summit Josh did a sick huck Then we took a few laps in the 6 inches of wind deposited pow. Surprisingly it was rather epic conditions for October.

Sweeet! October POWS!
I was going to go that Sunday. Decided against it since I hate making a day trip after driving that far, and my funds are very limited. Thanks for providing the visual evidence that it was good!

Hucking the heliotrope is fun! I've messed around on the stuff in the background just next to the climbing route.
