Pretty basic, anybody ever split one? Or ridden one unsplit for that matter? I've seen and heard the shorter tapers make out all right when chopped up. Good idea? Should I be locked up?

Just gonna bump this. Been on the road for the last few weeks so today was the first time I got to see my snazzy new swallowtail in person . Inlaid in the base, up on the nose of the board is a metal medallion deal about 2 inches wide and 1.5 inches in length, says Notch. Is this gonna cause some problems for a split? I've seen people split through Burton boards with those center inserts just fine, but then I've also seen some delam hell as well (on this forum I think). Some professional opinions would be nice here.
I have a Notch 58 that I use on the East Coast for deep days, however, the Notch series is built the same through out the line. My only reservation on splitting a Notch would be cutting through what Rome calls their " carbon centerline stringer technology." Basically they lay carbon down the center of the board and upon splitting it I don't know how effective that aspect of the board will remain. The medal medallion is paper thin and will not pose any problems.
