Nobody slept at the end of the road last Saturday night, so there's prolly room for 10+ cars for car camping, unless another big group shows up. Cars are parked in single file with one lane open beside them. Some moving around of cars may be required to get in close at the end of the day when the fishermen and day-trippers leave. The car camp will be plenty close to the goods even if the road is not plowed further. There won't be the luxury of a parking lot to set up chairs and grills and hang out in like normal for May. If your car is too small (like mine) for sleeping, then expect to sleep on snow, as there is no flat ground showing anywhere. Bridgeport and Lee Vining are both only 12 miles away, so lodging is available, but expect to receive much grief from the car/snow campers. If we're lucky and the rumours are wrong then we will have a parking lot, but don't count on it yet.
As for Saddlebag, I'd like to vote for June 10/11/12.
I'm pretty sure I've also got some extra camping gear to loan out to anyone if they need it for snow camping.
I'm your huckleberry. I need to buy that bag from you, and borrowing a tent would be nice. Also, since you've got K, maybe you can loan Bailey out as well hey?

Anyone know what the snow is like in that area after this heat wave? I cant decide to go on this or climb Whitney the weekend before. I do need a good weekend of BC. I have done some hiking and some climbing but havent really "scored" yet. Will this be the trip?
This time of year in the Sierra, a 3-season tent works fine, or any sturdy tent with a rain fly really. My 3-season actually holds up pretty well in winter wind and snow. Just build up a little snow around the the bottom of the tent fly to keep air from circulating . A bivy sack in a hole is not too bad an option either. For a bag you would need like a 10-20deg. rating prolly. A sleeping pad is a must.
