Anybody want to go climbing in Cali some time in mid July? I will be visiting a friend but he can only go on the weekend, if someone here is interested I will be happy for the opportunity to stay longer.
Mostly into easy trad climbing, I can lead about 5.7-5.8 comfortably for a full day. I can't really go any harder because of a shoulder injury (slabby is better), but maybe as a second. My goal is to be out having fun in beautiful places.
I'll be bringing a decent sized rack and can also bring a rope if necessary.
FWIW, I'd also be happy to climb with beginners, most people who've done a few routes or indoor climbs can do 5.6-5.7 or so as a second, so if you want to learn this crippled climber might be a good opportunity
I would be really stoked to learn some climbing from you and I can prolly take a few days off in mid July. PM me the details. I have very minor climbing experience. I have a decent rack too, but nobody brags about man-boobs. I could probably rustle up a rope if needed, but I don't own one. I do have a harness and shoes, though.

I could be up for this depending on when you guys go. Right now only July 18 weekend is still open (which also happens to be one of those no-national-parks-fee weekends). I don't know much about climbing, just enough to be dangerous. Always interested in learning more though.

Oops, missed this thread's revival
So, summary:
I will arrive in the bay area on Friday the 10th, go climbing in Yosemite Sat-Mon with my host, and then I'm available for Tue-Thu (i have to be in Boston before the end of the week, but other than that there's no constraint).
I have no car, and will be staying in Los Gatos. I can obviously take caltrain to $meeting_point, but I wouldn't mind renting a car either.
I did bring a rope, so I have all the group gear and all the personal gear for one person.

devastating news, i can't make it...
does this mean you won't show me around Cham when i finally make it over there? that has been the #1 destination on my list since i was a little fella. almost made it to Argentière a few years back. Had a deposit on a house and everything but the lure of a secure job for the next 6 months put my dreams on hold.

Los Gatos is just over the hill from Santa Cruz. We should meet up, if not for climbing, at least for some beers or something. Or some mountain biking! Check yer PMs.
Thanks, Yuval! That was definitely my best climbing experience to date!! It was really fun seeing how to climb trad. Now I'm adding Cathedral Peak to my list of peaks that I'm gonna try to get people to take me up.
