The Winterstick split looked sweet at the Splitfest. Anybody got any more info than "looks"? I just heard it will be out in Sept. Are they simply spliting one of their solid boards? If so, does anybody know which model?

I believe their split is basically the severe terrain board. It has taper, bigger radius, less camber?, fairly stiff and solid construction (ie. not the lightest board). I rode it and liked it. They better have iit out before next season.
I just got an E-mail from the folks over at Winterstick, I had E-mailed asking for info about their splitboard for this season. They said that full stats will be available on there new website which should be live by the end of the week and they also confirmed that it takes after there ST board.

I'll be down in South Lake area this weekend, no chance to get around to Sugar Bowl for a demo... Bummer!
Anyway, the thing that catches my eye with the board is the wide waist... Doesn't lend itself well to agressive riding angles... Sure, it's not as bad as it seems when paired with the 10.x meter sidecut, but still.. I guess you'll get more float out of the short length, but still... 25.8cm...
Dunno... Need someone to demo it for me.. Anyone? Anyone?

I broke down and bought a split '62 even though it's a little short for my liking. I figured the extra effective edge would make up for it. Well, I am stoked! The only other board I can compare to is the Voile '66 and I have to say this thing is sooooooooo much more solid on marginal snow. It doesn't feel like I'm on a '62 cuz of the huge amount of effec. edge and lack of sidecut. On superdeep days I do leave this at home and take out my '66, but even on "normal", deep days this thing rocks. It has a very hard, fast base which looks like could take a couple of shots from rocks. I gently rode over a sharktooth w/ my Voile and the base peeled to the core like a overripe banana. The only beef I have w/ the design is the lack of nose. I wish they could have added a cm. or two just to the nose itself for pow, but thats just cuz I prefer '64 -'66's. When on windboard, corn, or any other Sierra funk this thing feels like a brick shithouse and oh, yeah.....it likes to haul ass!!! I've noticed more stablity while skinning too. I'm much more confident traversing firm snow than my '66 voile. I'm down in bishop right now and am planning on putting this thing to the test on some steeps. I'm sure I won't be dissapointed.
