Dragontail and Colchuck Glacier, May 1st

A couple of us headed up to colchuck lake yesterday. Ale and I spent thursday night at the lake. Kyle and Dan met up with us the next day on the colchuck glacier. Since I'm short on words I'll just start throwing up pictures.

After breakfast we headed up to colchuck col where I ran into Kyle and his friend Dan...nice to meet you both

From the top of the glacier...Ale, Kyle and I skinned up and rode down the sw face of dragontail. A nice line with good snow and scenery.

If all that wasn't enough...the top half of the colchuck glacier was loaded with windblown and packed powder from a storm a couple days earlier. Real nice turns back down to the lake

We tried for this little gem but the wind had hammered it...some other time

Sometimes you pay a fee when everything goes right. Commence rotten snow on talus followed by devils club and creeks. Hope you guys made it outta there!

I have been wanting to get into that area for years, but the drive from PDX makes it seem restrictive....

Great pictures, and thanks for giving me some drool material, and convincing pictures for my regular partner to
start contemplating!

BTW, a few years ago I saw a TR on TAY where some maniac skied triple couloirs on Dragontail.... :guinness:
