After the seven week drought the weather has come back with avengence the past 3 weeks. Day after day the resorts have been delivering the goods with little reason to leave the resort. With the days longer and the weather sunny it was a obvious choice to head into the B.C. and get some North facing lines. Wensday a skier friend Joe and myself went to the Tatoosh range which is just South of Rainier and still in the National park. Joe skinning through the Old Growth Then finally we reached alpine at around 5'000 feet myself skining across the valley to access the low Saddle It got steep near the saddle but we finally got access to a NE facing run Joe skiing with Rainier in the Background The run was mainly to access this terrain Joe started breaking the skin track Myself skinning towards the summit Once access the ridge we traversed a way but got sketched by the cliffs We called this mountain Certain Death The snow was North facing which made for some great riding The lines were sick Joe skiing back towards the old Growth The Next day I went home to Crystal and Traversed the North facing slopes of the Silver Basin. I took the chair and hiked the southback to the king so I could see what lines I wanted to ski. Sick lines off of Crystal Peak 3 way peak on the right and JBAS (Joes Bad Ass Shoulder) in the middle My first objective was 3 way peak which was a mellow skin to boot packing up the ridge The View SW from 3 way JBAS was another mellow skin Track then a bootpack straight to the summit. Next I skinned East to Gunsight which is skiers left of Gunbarrel and a steeper pitch The line down JBAS on the right and Gunsight in the Middle To access Dog leg chute I hiked up Gunbarrel which is now tracked out with a boot pack right up the gut. Crystal from Dog leg peak Looking West with 3 way to the left and the King to the right I decided to ride Dog legged chute which was the best run of the day Next was the storm Trooper/ Blacktusk which was more of a access run to bear gap but delivered quality snow from Bear Gap I skinned up to Pickhandle Peak for one Final wide open bowl with good fall line Looking back towards Crystal storm trooper on the far left Dog leg peak is to the right with 3 way behind it and the king to the right of Rainier The final run of the Day The tour took me about 7 hours and alittle over 8 miles round trip Hopefully we keep getting good touring weather
