I have an 171 sitting here that I haven't ridden yet, which is my first splitboard. I'm debating returning the 171 for a 166 out of fear that the 171 won't be as agile as I'd like it to be. My in-resort board is a 161 K2 Zeppelin. What do you guys think? Should I hang on to the 171 or go for the exchange?

At your height and weight, I'd keep the 171.

I'm 5' 10" 170lbs and I rode the 166 Mojo and now on a 165 Khyber.

I would agree with the height\weight stats that the 171 Mojo is a good choice.

However, you ride a shorter board in-bounds and am wondering if maybe you'd be happier with something similar to the Zeppelin in terms of dimension. That 10 cm jump up from what you are used to may mean adjusting your style a bit.

FWIW, I have a 161 Mojo and ride a 161 K2 Zeppelin inbounds (5'11", 175, size 10). I also have a 171 Mt Gun, and found that while I could handle it, I prefer the shorter ride for most conditions - of course, I ride in WA and see more heavy snow days and spring corn.

The Mojo is pretty sweet though and if you opt not to return the 171 for something shorter, I don't think you will regret it.

I weigh 185-190 and am 5-10 size 10 boot. I just got my first split this winter and went 166 Mojo. Gotta say I am pleased. It has floated me great in our Washington snow this year in many conditions from corn (yes corn in dead winter) to deep pow. Any chance you can test ride both boards? I had a deal on the 66 so went with it, been happy ever since.

I'm 155lb in my socks, 5'11" and went for the 166. Thought that would be a good length for a powder board.

I was a bit nervous when it arrived, seemed quite a bit stiffer than my old 168 (and exactly the same length!) I got a little bit more nervous when I read what length Mojos people were riding on here.

Tuns out it was absolutely fine. Love it, actually. Nimble enough through tight trees, jump turns on steep sketch are fine, and it feels pretty darn good when things get faster. It might be buttons heavier than the 161, but with the Sparks on and comparing it to my buddy's 173 mountain gun, drakes and slider plates, I really didn't have anything to complain about!

Glad I didn't chop it in for the 161. I've got plans for Euro steeps in April, and I think the 166 is going to be great.

Plus, how much nicer is the white than the green? That's what really matters.

I'm 6'2" and ride a 171 Mojo. We ride a lot of steep trees and I have never wished I had a shorter board. The Mojo is so fast and responsive that I feel a shorter board isn't necessary. I certainly wouldn't want to lose float of high speed stability when I ride bigger more open terrain or fat pow.

keep the 171! You won t regret it.

I was in a similar predicament but w/ the 161 vs. 166. I'm 6', 160 soaking wet, ride a reverse camber 158 and an old Burton Frontier 166 for resort boards. Living in Colorado w/ super light snow I went w/ the 161 and am stoked I did so. I have had zero issues w/ float or stability at speed and feel like I gained a bit of agility w/ the smaller size. My guess is that at your size, you'd be fine w/ either the '66 or '71, but might be a bit more comfortable w/ the 166, as 10 cm is a pretty big jump b/n resort and split boards.
