wed dec 10?

warming temps and rain showers overnight saturated the snow once again, but quickly turned back to snow by 1030am. still, warm winds kicked in late night like a hairdryer on a snowball. lost some natural early this am. again, not really a big deal or surprise for early season. another few inches on the hill, maybe.

heard of poss NE late week/early nxt...??? could use a couple of those, fingers crossed.

18-24" in bc right now on ridgelines. still holding...

fri dec 12

1045am

http://www.srh.noaa.gov/fwd/productview ... &version=0

storm came in heavier than expected but still delivered 5-8+" of mashed potatoes evenly across region before turning to some sleet and freezing rain, even at 3800' this morning on mansfield. some fog too, winds turned by 10 am and are now blowing colder out of the N. could collect another inch or so, otherwise clearing tonight. sunny, cold tomorrow should lock more stuff in place. was able to slip into the woods today inbounds.

looks like we'll continue to walk the tightrope for a while w/ marginal temps and snow and/or rain showers continuing nxt wk.

A great weekend way up North! Bitter cold on saturday... sticky fresh snow... 8-12in depending on the area. Great conditions on sunday. Season is now definately on! Streams are not closed in yet... but should be by next snowstorm... Conditions were so good inbounds that even if we brought all our gear, we stayed at the resort to enjoy a totally uncrowded Jay Peak on Sunday.

There was a very light crust in the middle of the new snow... hardly noticable on skis... so nothing to bother with on a board!

The rain did a significant amount of damage to the snowpack on Mansfield today. I was only inbounds, but it was significant. Looks like we may have to wait a few more weeks before the out-of-bounds isn't a bit dodgy...

4-6" new overnight as of 8am on mansfield, w/ bonding to old snow surface much better than expected. rode mostly inbounds, as the staunch ice crust from the recent rain event is still evident underneath. anyway, great turns. no complaints.

upcoming fri AND sun/mon storms look GOOD. keep em coming..

Hey Doug!

I'd be in for a ride on Sunday as well... If conditions our worth it we could make the trip south!

We'll be at Jay for the next 2 weeks... so lots of touring to be done during that time frame!

Send me a PM or e-mail... That could be fun to check out what's available in your area! And also, if you'd like to come up, let me know! Things are great up here!
