Splitboard story in Rome Catalog

I just got a look at the Rome catalog for this winter, and near the front, they have a two page photo and story about a splitboard-powered hut trip trip. Pretty cool for a company not even in the split game to represent. Go to your local store and pick up a catalog.

Paul M, the owner of Rome is actually a splitter from way back and helped with the original Burton interface when he worked there. Very cool guy and he offered a lot of advice and mentoring around 4 years ago when I was trying to bring the first split specific binding to the market.

Would love to hear the story behind your binding idea, what went right/wrong, whatever happened?

Speaking of catologs, did you guys see the awesome photography in the Black Diamond ski and ice climbing catalogs. Top notch museum quality photos if you ask me.

Would it kill them to add a snowboarder pic for the expedition poles or Outlaw pack?

The long version is a story better told over a beer not the internet. The short version is that I had a concept, drawings, and a non-disclosure agreement. What I didn't have was a patent lawyer, engineering background, and resources to take the product to production. No hard feelings though...the product is now available for splitboarders, the sport is better because of it, and that's what matters! :headbang:

I'll keep my eye out for some split Romes this winter on Mansfield. I hadn't realized those guys were splitters, and knowing that now, they may be my first call if we can put together a Mansfield BC party this winter. :headbang:

Sorry, I've been MIA for a bit as I'm couch surfing for the next few weeks. I'll be up there for good around the 15th of October. I got linked up with another rookie patroller, who, randomly, happens to be a splitter. :thatrocks:

We came up last weekend to find a place, and are in the process of mailing signed lease and deposits right now. My project for tomorrow is to start looking for Sub-teaching gigs. Almost there!!!
