I had nothing to do this week so I did a quick check with all the usuall suspects to see if anybody wanted to gget out. No luck. I did a little surfin and found Buell on TAY looking for a parnter to smmit Adams with him. Sounds fun.
After a 5+ hour drive, I arrived at teh TH at about 2:30 am. I awoke at 3:30 am and quickly found Buell parked not far from me. We got a start after me figuring how to load up the way too much stuff I was bringing with me. JimW is not the only sherpa in training.
Yeha yeah,, you have all seen the pictures, and Adams isn't really all that photo genenic.. Great views of all the surrounding peaks though. We got to the pikers a little after noon, and then headed to teh summit. Less tehn favorable condition, with a couple of carries back to the entrance to the S chute.
The SW chute livied up to all the hype. Conditons where near perfect from top to bootm. I was amazed at the scale of this thing. Never been in such a long featuress chute. It felt like it just kept going and going ang.....
Snow below the chute was perfctly smooth and creamy.... then deteriorated quickly to dirty, then to sticky.... road it out to the round the mt trail with a couple of carries and route finding excersises.
Adams casting it's shadow in teh morning sun.
Buell, and the seemingly never ending slog to the top. This is the view for hours....
Buell very happy to be on top..
A look at the other big guys..
Rainier..
St. Helens
Hood..
Looking back up the SW chute..
And a look from a little further on.
Another great day out. Couldn't ask for better spring condition... even if it is summer.
Thanks Buell for putting this out there and leading the way!

Well shut my mouth!!!
You are right, it isn't all that bad too look at. Maybe if I could take better pictures.
Too bad you guys got skunked by the weather. Better luck next time. I knew you guys where around but wasn't sure how it went for you. Not many had good luck with the weather that weeknend.

I learned a few things .
Always give yourself at least one weather day if you are climbing in the PNW
People in Oregon drive S L O W
I like the area a lot.
It was a fun weekend and we did do 2 runs from the lunch counter down to 7600 along the crescent glacier and didnt see much of suncups so it was worth the trip
