Took a buddy out on his first split mission. Wanted to keep it pretty safe so we just went up to Steven's pass since it is closed for the season. It must have been the date, or something in the air, but it was a day full of oooops moments.
First off, upon arriving at the parking lot, I realized I had no poles. binders ... .. or beacon
Luckily my girlfreind was coming up to play with the dogs(since the are both on BC restriction after last weeks scalping) and was only an hour behind.. time for some no boarding on the split under bigchief. made it an impessive 200 yards on bunny slope angle terrain in ankle deep pow while managing a few turns. No pictures..
Blah blah blah... then we decided to hed up to the summit of cowboy via the saddle between cowboy and big chief and then up the ridge. BAck side was harder, crusty and full of snow machines and just didn't look fun...
Some pics of various stuff off of the the ridge walk looking for the 420 chutes
still snowing just a bit up here...
both funneled into this
another ooopsy
I'm not high. Do I look high? Not quite 6,000'
My way down(kinda hooks right)
big oopsy here.. Hard to see my line but I just dropped from where my partner is to where I am .. It was pretty decent, but not as much snow as every where else..Richard tried to unbuckle out of his flows to try and drop off just his left, and then somehow lost it and went on a one footedd tumble of about 100' of 45-55 degree sparcly treed slope until being 'gently' stopped by some nice old growth... Had the camera out but all I was thinking was keeping an eye on and see where he was going to end up ncase he was hurt. I had to give up bombing this to go to his aid for a bit.. luckily, not a scratch.
Typical of this winter,, there wa a little ibt of snow..

Way to get at it ale_capone, glad your riding pal was not hurt or unsettled by his one footed slide.
