Verts kick ass! I'm still making conVerts outta people
The bindings are kinda gay but have never failed on me.
Walking downhill feels like you'll rip you patella outta your knee though
Skiers are too proud to use them (except one skier I knew that refused to skin and only used verts) and I could care less cuz I'll be shredding the steeps while they're still up to their waste groveling up my chute.

Those pink and powder blue things from REI look pretty sick too

Ah VERTS, had a pair for about a decade and used them a lot in the Sierra Nevadas of Spain for 6 years. Four or five years into my use of them (much less frequently due to having a family now) in the PNW and I cracked one and shattered the other. My dumb ass threw them away. Lifetime warranty you say? I did not even try whining to Pete when we spoke. I found a used set out of Portland and bought them. When Pete is back in production this fall I'm buying more. Got mine back, pucked them further forward after a mtn plate mod was too far back.

BGnight is right, VERTS rock and those that see them in use are often conVERTS. I always wondered why BG boot packed (verts) so much and skinned so little, he is a vert machine.

I'd be innarested in picking up a pair as well...anybody want to get together and make a group buy? even if we don't get a price reduction we might be able to convince Pete to produce before september...if we get a decent number of folks together

Last week, I stumbled across brand new Verts with Clicker bindings -- I happen to ride Clicker -- on a Swiss auction site called 'richardo.ch'. Photos from the auction listing are shown below.

After registering on the site, which one can only do in French or German, I did a "Buy It Now" (i.e. you're allowed to make one purchase before waiting for a letter sent to your home address to confirm your mailing address) for a pair and wired the funds yesterday to pay for them. Total cost just under $70 to my doorstep in South Lake Tahoe.





PS: I think the vendor might have one other pair in stock...

Mumbles is in for one more pair should anyone be keeping a tally to pass on to Pete. Hell, I might buy two so that I have a pair mod for each type of boot and a spare. I like to be prepared.

deejaygee, the clicker plates I'm going to send you are this exact style. I took them off a used pair just like those, and my used set cost the same as your new set. You should buy all they have in stock and resell them.

One note about those Verts with the clicker plates. Several years ago a local shop was blowing those out and I picked up some pairs for friends. I think I may have even gotten a pair for bcrider. The one thing I noticed is those things were HEAVY compared to the regular Verts with strap bindings. I think the full long clicker plate is probably overkill for use on the Verts. You could probaby cut out a bunch of the middle section of the plate, or just cut off the toe and tail and mount those directly to the deck.

Then again, Fast And Light Is For Pussies (tm).

So, today I got to make use of the moin c'est plus shoes, and I must say I am very happy with them.

I need to mooch a camera cable, and then I will post a detailed TR and also a small review.

In brief - I got sick of traversing a section in skin mode, i kept losing the edge and it was really unpredictable snow (changing incessantly from soft to hard) so I switched to the snowshoes and went straight up (maybe 40-45°) in wind crust & heavyish powder. They performed very well in both - better float than I had hoped for, and easy to kick through the crust. Anyway, a real review with pics and stuff will go up soon.

God I'm pooped... I'm going to nap now.
