The snow in this video is mesmerizing with it's power and beauty. With seven deaths here in british columbia this year this was a bit of a reminder of my place in the hierarchy of the mountains.
yea, real cool video. crazy how two charges do nothing but get a loose slide moving and that is enough of a trigger for the slope to release. looks like it was probably buried SH
with a year like this. big momma N will always win.
any one read the article in kootenay mountain culture about surviving a class 4 slide on the coast? - fucking crazy

I actually think the delay is strain softening (the snowpack has failed but not yet sheared, sometimes bombs do nothing and 15 minutes later everything comes crashing down), not the slough building up forces
I think that's rare to see the house of cards so close to the point of tipping across such a huge area, I think usually it's one specific "trigger point sweet spot" where the house of cards is basically ready to fall, and then it brings the rest with it when it does

We had an incident here at the resort (JHMR) where they bombed an area and 3 hrs. later, after some wind loading, it ripped on its own. Burying a patroller skiing under it.
