Seems like I can only get 5 hard turns in before the uppers on my Malamutes loosen up.
Pulling up on the cord cinches it back down and does the trick, but alas only for 5 turns. Is there some locking mechanism I'm not aware of on the lace clickers on the front of the boot?

Isnt Northwaves more narrow?
Only problem on mu Malamutes is the plastic lacing hooks. One have the tip broken off, but can still be used. Great boots with lot of toe room!

I have the same problem, but more due to the velcro heel/ankle strap inside. It's not set up to stretch very far, so after 1 year of use it doesn't have velcro low enough to be tight. Also i've broken the the little plastic lace tightner twice now. I sent it back last year and they fixed it no problem. It broke again about a month ago, i just make it work.
Overall i love these boots, very light and good all around split boot. I just have gotten used to riding them a bit loose.
When i win the lotto it's DC Allegiance all the way.
I love the malamutes, they started out a little stiff, but now they're nice an' flexy without just collapsing like a lot of soft boots
with mine, I just have a problem with the velcro wearing out. They didn't pack out too much, they fit great for me, but the velcro completely wore out on the ankle strap from top to bottom so I have to tuck them into the liner for them to stay, but now it's at the point where I just don't use them anymore, and the boots still work fine, just a little softer.
Also, the plastic clip to tuck the laces onto the side of the boot broke on one of them. Not that hard to superglue, but it's annoying to have to be delicate with it now.

I solved the loosening problem by using a 3/4" camstrap around the upper part of the boot, This keeps the tongue from sliding to the side, Keeps the laces tight all day, and makes the boot very stiff.
I like the Malamute but they pack out quickly, I think. How many days or years in the BC do most get from a set? I get new malamutes, yearly, and they are squish in two months. 60 ish days. Are the driver X's any better?
