Conditions observed on 12/15, did a nice mellow tour to horse camp.

Below treeline we have a base. Good skinning but not enough for turns without risk of damage. Major rain crust a few inches off the ground. Above treeline is still looking pretty sad.

this week looks promising though.

It was windy on 12/30, but we managed to find soft snow at Shata.

...and finding some good spots the following days.

In case anyone hasn't heard by now, Everett hwy is closed after the last round of storms. Sounds like it may be awhile. :cry:

We wanted to head up there this weekend, but didn't want to skin from McBride. We rode Friday at the Ass and it wasn't very fun so we went home. Pretty bad rain crust.

I bet Shasta is the same until you get to may 10,000 feet. Now, that's a long approach right now, unless you have a sled. :wink:

You might want to rethink that. "Shat" would seem to be the past tense of "Shart"... so you might want to inspect them before tossing them in the pack next to your sandwich.
