I have the option of purchasing either a mojo or an s-series...all in pretty much the exact same price. Can anyone enlighten me with some personal experience?

You won't get much riding comments on the Mojo since most have not had an opportunity to ride them yet.

My guess is this:

Shapes will be pretty similiar

Mojo has more sizes

Mojo is probably lighter but more susceptible to edge damage because of cap construction

Mojo is probably a little stiffer and probably has more control in varied conditions

Mojo is a Voile not a Burton, which means you'll get better customer service and will be supporting a true splitboard and backcountry company

Get the mojo.

i would guess that the burton is much stiffer than the mojo. the burton is a really stiff board.

i have had a very good split customer experience with burton.

but voile have more IQ what is a splitboard - what need a splitboard...


a split must be light - and stiffy for the up hill .... and a good flex in the nose .... we ride the Bc not a race track ....a simpel system vor the interfaces .


in the past burton must lorn how had the better interface ....
and in the next comes the light and stiffy lesion...

cap ore sandwitch - cap is lighter sandwitch is stiffy - redneks think so .
you can build light in cap and in sandwitch 2 .... stiffy is not a question of cap ore sandwitch .... built a board with out sidewalls, in hardwood .... this is hard and lighter .... build it in cap and it is waterresident.... build it in abs sidewalls - is a littel side impackt absorber NOT A AIRBAG...

THE best way is RIDE IT and TEST It - no person can say you must by this one XXXX

First time I've heard this comment about a Burton, but to each his own.

I'd say the Mtn. Gun is a REALLY stiff board, or maybe the Winterstick. Burton boards IMO are the least stiff.

Burton - I dig your posts, it takes me a while to figure them out, but they are classic.

I can not compare the mojo with the s-series. but I can compare it with the voile freeride 173 and the voile mtn gun 171.

imho the s-series 168 is - regarding to the stiffness - just between the 2 voile's. it's a nice all around splitboard with a nice floating in powder (-> little taper tail).

I would agree that the Burton is not classified as a "stiff" board. Its got a great all-around flex but its not stiff like the mountain gun. I would also agree that the Burton is a really great all-around splitboard.

While I haven't ridden the mojo yet, based on the shape and flex, I believe it will be very similar to the burton. I'll let you know for sure if we ever get some snow.

i guess i should clarify that my s series is really stiff relative to my voile freeride. the freeride is a wet noodle compared to the burton, i also dont weigh very much, so for you 170+ lb guys it is probably a lot less stiff.

I have owned the Voile 173 Freeride, 161 Mtn Gun(2005/06 stiff), 171 Mtn Gun(2006/07 mid stiff) and now the 166 Mojo. I Have only been out on it for 3 days but so far the Mojo is the best board, split or not, that I have ridden yet.
I have an old 168 Burton Supermodel and I would choose the Mojo even on the groomers.

Anybody out there have weight specs on the S vs. the MOJO, the MOJO is 8.5lbs? Can't find a burton 168 wight figure.
