wow, i am the only one that still uses an F1? its pretty old, but i am fast enough with it, i dont even take the gf's m1 when she isnt using it. i guess like like the old school submarine beeps...
i have worried about frequency drift with such an old beacon, but it still works great and has plenty of range when practicing, so there is no point in upgrading.

I used to use an F1 as a bc solid boarder burdened with snowshoes while stationed in Europe. Sold all the BC gear when the little ladies arrived, just ordered a Pulse and it should arrive in two days. My gear will be complete at that time and I can begin to get into the bc split scene...hopefully with some of you who are willing to take on a spit rookie.

I have two F1's and an M2 in the stash. One of the F1's drifted bad. I contacted Ortovox and they actually have a great return/exchange program. I think you can get a refurbished for around $145.00 if you return your drifted beacon.
Definitely watch the inspection dates on the beacons to make sure you get them checked for this.

I use the tracker. On one of my avi courses we descused the topic and the instucter made a good point.1 practice is the obvious .The tracker is easy to use and maybe the best for single burial searches .But prabably not the best for multi's or proffesional users patrol, search and rescue etc.
