Went for a fun half day tour with LBR and his bud Kurt up to the Indian Peaks on Sunday. East Portal is the Eastern entrance/exit of the Moffat Tunnel, going from high above Boulder to Winter Park, Co. Its a pretty popular area for skiers, but we managed to find some fun turns. We followed the Forest Lakes trail, then headed up to Arapaho Lakes. Round trip was around 6 miles, 2,000'.

Great shots HikeforTurns! Thanks for posting up.
Let's go shred again, this time with a proper early start, more vert, more turns and no brown bottle flu!
Sweet pics. Were you guys able to drive all the way up to the East Portal. I've only been up there in Summer, but I would guess they plow to their for any needed access on the railroad or tunnel? Not really sure, just curious. Thanks.

Hey there HikeforTurns, Kurt and I went there again yesterday. It snowed all day, 18" of HEAVY snow. Difficult traveling and riding in the trees. The exit trail was better yesterday, buit everything else was better last week when we went.
It was very unstable at tree-line, as we discovered firsthand, knocking loose a rather large (12-18" deep, approx. 150' across) soft slab that ran around 200' into the trees. Exciting.
Kurt took some shots, I'll try to get them posted with a full report this week.
I'd love to do another tour with you as well, so let's talk later in the week about the coming weekend. I'll be available Sunday, Saturday only if it rains/snows in the Front Range-skateboarding programs most Saturdays.............
Nicely done HfT, we hit Frostys a few weeks ago and had a blast. I'd like to head back up there soon for some corn harvesting- let me know if you are interested.
