At least there is a system in the forecast. It's gonna be soon (I hope).

According to my ass, it was somewhere around 8.6 on the Moh's Scale of Hardness.

(That's harder than Topaz yet softer than Corundum for you non-engineers out there...)

Where's the forecast of a storm? I don't see it anywhere. I'm predicting it's wishful thinking on your part based on your cabin rental.

Well, it was forecasted to snow around Feb. 8-9 according to Accuweather. But today it looks like they are even backing off of that forecast.

Accuweather is a f-in tease.

We're still trying to get people up to the cabin.

The Dweeb report offers a little bit of hope.

FOR THE NEXT 5 DAYS....IT WILL CONTINUE TO BE VERY COLD EAST OF THE ROCKIES.... AND MILD OUT WEST......THERE WILL BE A SLIGHT WEAKENING OF WEST COAST RIDGE LATER NEXT WEEK AS AN EASTWARD SHIFT IN THE HUDSON BAY LOW CREATES SOME OPENING OF THE WAVE LENGTH AND ALLOWS ((((THE CHANCE-NOT CERTAIN)))) FOR SOME WARM ADVECTION TYPE SNOWFALL IN THE HIGH COUNTRY ABOUT THE 8TH THROUGH THE 12TH. I WILL SAY, THAT WELL OUT IN THE PACIFIC, THERE ARE SEVERAL "LARGE STORMS" CONNECTED WITH GOOD SUBTROPICAL TAPS. SO IF THE UPPER WEST COAST RIDGE DOES WEAKEN ENOUGH, THERE IS A LOT OF MOISTURE THAT CAN MOVE ON IN. THIS COULD BRING SIGNIFACANT SNOWFALL IF IT OCCURS......HOWEVER, IT WOULD NOT REFLECT A CHANGE IN THE OVERALL DROUGHT PATTERN. AS IN MY OPINION, THE UNDER PINNING FORCING FOR THE CURRENT PATTERN IS GLOBAL AND NOT SYNOPTIC.

I had to post this special weather statement because it is such a crack up. Has anyone ever seen such joy in a weather warning before??

...WET WEATHER TO RETURN TO NORTHERN CALIFORNIA LATER THIS WEEK...

THE PERSISTENT DRY WEATHER PATTERN OVER NORTHERN CALIFORNIA IS EXPECTED TO END LATER THIS WEEK. A POWERFUL PACIFIC JET STREAM WILL FINALLY PUNCH THROUGH THE UNUSUALLY STRONG HIGH PRESSURE RIDGE THAT HAS KEPT THE AREA DRY FOR SO LONG. THE JET STREAM WILL TAP INTO A DEEP SUBTROPICAL MOISTURE PLUME AND AIM IT RIGHT AT CALIFORNIA... BEGINNING WEDNESDAY...AND PERSISTING INTO THE WEEKEND.

SEVERAL INCHES OF LIQUID PRECIPITATION AND SIGNIFICANT SNOWFALL ARE EXPECTED...ESPECIALLY FROM THURSDAY INTO THE WEEKEND...OVER NORTHERN CALIFORNIA. THE UPCOMING WET WEATHER COULD MAKE A SIGNIFICANT RECOVERY IN THE PRECIPITATION DEFICIT OVER NORTHERN CALIFORNIA...AND TURN THIS MONTH INTO A...FABULOUS FEBRUARY.

Sledding on 2/3 up in Sonora was pretty sweet. We even found some windblown pow. Definitely need more snow though.

Keep 'em crossed.
