Sweet report and pics as always bcd! :)

Thanks for the hospitality and for showing us this great peak. I'll get my pics together this evening.

For now, I found this picture of Johnson from 2004 (almost to the exact day). Coverage sure is better this year. 8)

Sweeet couloir! Looks like you guys had your axes out for the decent, must have been pretty freakin steep. Did you ski back down the ridgeline from the summit to the coulie?

Looks like ideal weather as well.

Yeah, BCD and I wanted no part of that roll-over in those snow conditions. I downclimbed a 15ft section I wasn't feeling too.
Sketch.

Steep and exposed, check out the fall line below BCD on the peak

bcrider making it look good. The sounds that were made do not match the photo.

Thanks again to Dan, Brian, and Roots for giving us an excellent place to crash and operate out of.

Nice work guys! What day was this? Have you ever ridden the chute to the left of the line you rode? It looks sweet. So many good chutes in the Sierras to be had. Is this to the South of Goode?

Here are my pics from Mt Johnson. :)

Mt Tom from 395.

Mtnrider heading around South Lake.

Playing with the slow shutter speed…I think it worked.

The sights.

bcd don't need no stinking snow.
Image

Mt Hurd
Image

bcd and South Lake
Image

More incredible views. Mt Johnson is in the left hand corner, bcd is crossing the lake below.
Image

Unnamed gnar between Mt Goode and Mt Johnson.
Image

Getting close…
Image

closer…
Image

and finally up.
Image

bcd sets a good bootpack.
Image

Image

At the saddle we took a break and looked to the west, bcd gets a front row seat.
Image

Steeleman could probably name all these peaks…the only one I recognize is the Black Giant (upper right).
Image

mmcpheet and mtnrider nearing the saddle.
Image

bcd and I set off for the summit up the northwest ridge.
Image

Sorry I didn't take any more pics of the ascent…I was too gripped and had to focus on the climb.
Here is what the last stretch up the northwest ridge looked like in May 2004 (and summer). Photo by Matthew Holliman.
Image

Here is bcd on the summit.
Image

Do you see what I see…
Image

bcd checking out the register. The last entry was in October 2005. Hard to say if the peak has been climbed since then or not. Some folks don't sign them and snow can hide the registers in the middle of winter. Still pretty cool to be off the beaten path. 8)

following bcd is always interesting. :)

This time of the year the creeks start to open up so we had to get creative, bcd nails it. (I wasn't so lucky)

How long was the approach? Anyway, the conditions looked sweet. Love the east side this time of year... Always money...

And yah, I think I'd have second thoughts looking at the nice little creek ollie on the way out. Good times... ;)

Thanks for sharing your fun in the Cali sun...
