Thanks, 'Guest.' That does sound a bit dicey. Maybe the moderate rating today isn't very conservative. The two Huckleberry canyon failures were just 6" deep, so I wonder if this was the culprit:
'A layer of rimed new snow crystals around 15cm deep in the storm snow produced consistent, easy failures and appeared to be the the failure layer for the observed natural avalanche activity."
If that layer persists it could be spooky after being loading by this next storm.
The Tahoe BC pow is about as good as it gets right now. Pits, poking/prodding, and riding some 30+deg. terrain indicate that the snowpack is pretty stable around Mt.Rose, especially compared to Wednesday. If you're not calling in "sick" to work this week, then you're priorities are really screwed up.

I'm calling in sick on Wed., anybody? I'd prefer somewhere in the Central Sierra (Hwy 4 or 108) but, as been said by a great pow warrior, have lungs, will travel.

The reason I'm not calling in sick this week is because I called in sick last week. So maybe my priorities are ok, but my timing is screwed up. Except I scored really nice powder on Thurday, so maybe I just need more sick days.
Eco - I'd be there in a heartbeat (plus three hours driving time) if there were any way to swing it.

It's cool. I know how it is, I missed last [epic] weekend because of prior commitments (3year old and 10 month old). I'm pretty sure I found a partner for Wed. Prolly going to scout that trip I showed you on 108. Your stoked, now you'll know if it's worth it or not.
Did a dusk patrol today near Tamarack today. Started skinning at 4pm and went until dark. Good pow still to be had on protected N and NE aspects. Almost a foot of new snow.
