At scrubfest I mentioned two great on line avalanche education courses. The links are below. Keep in mind this does not substitute for an Avalanche Level one course, but if you read and study these sites you will be well informed. The Canadian Avalanche on line course is really good with a sesction that requires you to pick a route to the top of a mountain. Its interactive so if you pick the wrong route as you move your mouse up the slope the area will turn red and it clearly explains why it is hazardous in that area. Enjoy.
