HikeforTurns and I got a great weekend in. We hit a surprise storm in Rocky Mountain National Park on Saturday and then got rode the big north chute of Kelso Mtn under blue skies (and wind) on Sunday.

Sweet views of Torreys Peak et al all day. Those spin drifts were a sign of things to come.

Head up the valley towards Grays and Torreys (14ers). Torreys over head with Dead Dog and the East Face looking fat.

Kicking steps up the south side of Kelso. Just a little blustery!

Rock outcropping on the ridge to Kelso. One of the craziest things was happening to me on the way up. When I walked out on the edge the ridge, onto bare rock, I started getting rapid fire static electric shocks to my hands, holding whippets, and through my backpack. First time it happened I ran down screaming at HfT. Immediate thought was lightning. There was literally not a cloud in the sky! Eventually we decided that lightning was not a high risk at that time and continued. I still got shocked every time I stepped on bare ground. HfT never did. Pretty sure it was static build up from blowing snow, but have never heard of this happening. Scared the crap out of me for a minute.
