I got a good deal on some G3 high traction splitboard skins, but got the long size thinking they would be like the Black Diamond (where you screw through the skin to set the length).

The tail clip seems to be attached to the skin, has anyone tried cutting the skin shorter and reattaching the tail clip?

I have cut a section out of the plush material and sewed the pieces back together with a fabric backing strip. Worked great. Just use some baking parchment paper or the skin glue shipping plastic over the glue so you don't gum up tour sewing machine.

Thanks, I'll try this. I was thinking using canvas/backpack type material. I don't have a sewing machine so I'll just try handsewing it first.

Did you put the fabric strip on the sticky side or hairy side?

I put a narrow strip of hypalon fabric on the glue side. The plush sued is basically still smooth with only some stitching showing. I did a zig-zag stitch across the butt ends and then another pass just a few mm back from that on each piece of skin. I'll post a pic later.
