Here is our town meteorologist in Flagstaff (Lee Born - a real meteorologist who shreds pow and provides video-based model interp for us, how rad) breaking down what refuses to break down: The "Ridge of Steel" afflicting many of us in the western U.S.

Good delivery, bad news.

Amazing how interconnected these weather systems are. He mentioned that this high pressure ridge in the pacific is the reason why that east coast snow storm was so severe. That storm made landfall in Europe this morning and is doing this sort of thing:

Should make for some jaw-dropping surf over the next day or two.

Good stuff. Great pictures of England. We've got Artctic High's pushing everything south of the Green Mountains in Vermont too or the gulf moisture falls as ice/rain. They say bad things come in threes (last two years blew according to my account). I've heard Barrows say it, Climate change sucks. I'm really starting to wonder myself. Hopefully something will give.

Yeah, I just had 16 days off. Of course the first week was family time and Christmas, but I thought I would get at the very least 3-4 days on snow. Somewhere, anywhere. Didnt happen. Nothing. NADA

I live in the desert, but we usually pick up most of our rain in January and february. So far- zero and it started out as a wet fall.

but now Im more worried. I have a well for home water. I have been at my place 4 years now. Im hoping I dont go into the bathroom, turn the tap and get nothing. Shit is getting serious

Some models are suggesting that maybe this thing breaks down at the end of next week.

I'm laughing at that title but trying not to cry at the same time. Below: 5 day precip forecast overlaid on drought status map.
